Animation & VFXExamples and Experience

Created, contributed, consulted and worked across a wide spectrum of visual effects and animation projects, a few highlights are presented here.

Worked with 3D and compositing since the days of Alias PowerAnimator in the early 90's. This at a time where SGIs offered the amount of power typically found in your ipod. Not really, but not far off. SGIs make shockingly good door steps currently.

Handled most the post work for our productions in house, from data pipelines, grading, finishing and vfx/compositing. Tasks include everything from the more obvious visual effects shots to the less obvious removing of junior crew members who think turning their back to the camera means the camera can't see them.

Simulator Ride Films

Wrote and directed/animation a couple of simulator ride films -- one set in space (above) and the other places the audience in a scalectrix (slot) car (right). These 2-3 minute films are presented in 3D to an audience seated in a hydraulic capsule who are thrown around to match the visuals. These were created through 96/97 at HD resolutions, destined for the theme parks of  the Sultan of Brunei.

Motion Graphics

These include title sequences for a number of companies, from film resolution idents (magic hour pictures who produced A Quiet Women) through to designing the animation that kicked off the first Spice Girls world tour (Spice, the final frontier)

Film and VFX

Worked on a number of films, from modelling dragons for a low budget feature, doing character tests for a possible animated feature (below) and also a range of vfx services -- character animation, CG lighting, match moving and tracking -- for Lost in Space.
