Short Films
We have produced a number of short films in the past, some highlights include
Me and My Guardian Danger
Me and My Guardian Danger. : 10 min. 16 mm b&w film. A dramatic mental game. Written, diected, shot and edited on glorious Steenbeck by Katerina Philippou, produced by Inventome Films and New York Film Academy, 1995.
Shown at the Tribeca Film Center in New York, this study of human nature was very well received in the festival circuit both in Europe and the States. It was the film that won Katerina her scholarship from the Greek Film Centre and the Ministry of Culture to Denmark's European Film College.
The guy that walks down a busy street of New York and is followed by a worse version of himself, was initially difficult to translate from paper to screen.
The Side Effect
The Side Effect: 6 min, metaphysical comedy of manners. Written, directed and produced by Katerina Philippou.
You're invited to dinner. There is wine. And truth. Beware.
Two couples enjoy a gourmet meal and the satanic prank of an unlikely 'maid' who pours into their velvet Merlot 'drops of truth', forcing them to speak their minds and reveal the unspeakable.
How wrong can a dinner party go? This short avant-garde portrays the shocking imagery of the 'surfaced subconscious' verbal diarrhoea' and is edited to more sound effects than the assembly of Star Wars! A favourite with TV Music channels in Greece. Shot during a rather strange evening at the director's discretion.
Prime Time In TV Crime
Prime Time In TV Crime: 35 min parody of American television. Written , directed and produced by Katerina Philippou, Inventome Productions and the EfC.
This is a satire of a fictional segment of a far-fetched American TV programme. It shows the Ric Ricardo Reality Show, a show that lines up three male suspects all claiming to be responsible for the murder of a young female. Audience and viewers listen to each contestants' testimony and decide who the murderer is. The 'winner' heads to jail accompanied by a huge paycheck.
This film was shot during the course of one evening at the European Film College's Main Studio as an extra-curriculum project. It was the result of the collaboration of 60 students who all joined forces, despite their heavy workloads, to make Katerina's script, a reality.
It was shot with 4 cameras and gave the director the opportunity to experiment with multi-camera directing.
It was shown on Store Bjorn, one of Denmark's largest cinema screens, a hugely entertaining piece of work resulting in a 45sec standing ovation for its creator.
